Priority 6 – Investing to benefit the communities in which we operate.

More than words: We believe that investing in the communities around us helps to create opportunities for many people to enhance their lives. We work with a wide range of groups across the world to sponsor and fund projects that improve life chances, address serious environmental issues and tackle poverty. We encourage our employees to volunteer their time and expertise to a wide range of projects and recognise their commitment at the highest level within Prudential.

In 2008, Prudential invested £5.3 million in a wide range of projects to benefit communities in which we do business, supporting education, welfare and environmental initiatives. This total investment includes a significant contribution made by many of the employees around the Group through volunteering, often linked with professional skills development. It also includes direct donations of £3.5 million to charitable organisations.
