Our responsibility priorities
Environmental footprint
Priority 4 – Understanding and reducing our direct and indirect environmental footprint.
More than words: Prudential recognises a responsibility to work to minimise the direct impact of its operations on the environment. In practice, this means minimising the carbon intensity of our activities and resources we use and tackling the indirect impact we have on the environment through our supply chain.
The commitment of businesses to tackling climate change is growing in the UK and globally. Many companies, for example, have recognised and are responding to the cost-effective opportunities that are available for cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
Initiatives such as the Carbon Disclosure Project (the largest registry of corporate greenhouse gas emissions in the world) – to which Prudential is both a signatory and provider of information – raises awareness around climate change and enables companies to benchmark their environmental performance against its peers. The Carbon Disclosure Project also offers good examples for others to follow in introducing a constructive and practical climate change management programme.
